This self-devised project, explored the socio-political impact on the arts with a focus on the Midlands; as I am from Coventry, this project had a personal connection to me. The project explored the current opportunities for creatives: what is being done, should be done, and needs to be done. This identified a gap, proposing actions to connect, guide and support creatives in their early careers, leading me to create ARTS52.
ARTS52 Magazine
ARTS52 is the new magazine for the Midlands’ creative scene, addressing the region’s under-appreciation by the arts sector, providing a platform for local talent. Each issue highlights creatives from different Midland cities, emphasising their journeys and the cultural vibrancy of their communities.
The magazine’s name derives from the A52 road, symbolising connectivity across Midlands centres and signifies the year-round importance of the arts. ARTS52 prioritizes personalisation and city representation in each edition.
The first edition 'The Duck Pond' of the ARTS52 starts in Nottingham.
ARTS52 Event 'Ay Up Me Duck'
ARTS52 Events would coincide with each magazine release. The creatives featured in the magazine put on workshops, teaching sessions or creative flow sessions for readers to attend.
The first event event, 'Ay Up Me Duck,' was to coincide with the Nottingham edition of the magazine. The event would be held at Nottingham Contemporary and would have a day of creative fun, from the talent featured within the magazine.
ARTS52 Instagram
ARTS52 Instagram was made to build up brand engagement and to promote the upcoming event, providing details on how to attend. Through digital marketing, ARTS52 aims to reach new audiences, mainly focusing on fostering a strong community presence.
